Empowering Youth Through Sport: The People’s Tournament 2025

The People’s Tournament, held at Woodlands A Secondary School in Lusaka from April 27 to May 4, 2025, brought together over 200 young athletes from Bauleni, Mutendere, Woodlands, and Kalikiliki. Eight teams competed in a spirited football competition, with Legacy FC from Bauleni emerging as champions after a 2–1 comeback victory over Black Stars FC in the final. The event not only showcased local talent but also promoted youth empowerment, unity, and a healthy alternative to substance abuse. It stands as a powerful reminder of the potential within Zambia’s youth and the importance of continued investment in grassroots sports development.

On March 11, 2025, we mark the third anniversary of the passing of Zambia’s fourth Republican President, Rupiah Bwezani Banda—fondly remembered as RB. Joined by hundreds of citizens, we celebrated the life of a leader who embodied diplomacy, humility, and a deep commitment to national unity. Reflecting on personal moments serving alongside him, the tribute highlights President Banda’s pivotal role in maintaining peace after the 2021 elections by uniting political leaders. Championing Equality: A Message of Empowerment on International Women’s Day 2025

On International Women’s Day 2025, Sebastian Kopulande shared a powerful message honoring the women and girls of Zambia. Under the theme “For ALL women and girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment”, he called for a united effort to break down the barriers of gender-based violence, unequal opportunity, and underrepresentation. Reaffirming his commitment to gender equality—recognized by the Leading Women of Africa in 2023—Kopulande emphasized the vital role women play in building the nation. His message celebrated the resilience of Zambian women and urged continued progress toward a more inclusive and empowered society.

Sebastian Kopulande Honored as Champion of Change for Empowering Women

Sebastian Kopulande has been awarded the Men of the Year – Champion of Change award in recognition of his dedication to advancing gender equality and empowering women. Presented during Women’s Month by Leaders of All Nations International (LOANI), in partnership with the Global Society for Female Entrepreneurs (GSFE) and Global Alliance, the award celebrates men who actively promote inclusion and amplify women’s voices. Sebastian Kopulande paid tribute to the late General Isaac Chisuzi, Zambia’s longest-serving Army Commander (2002–2010), following a visit to his funeral home. Hon. Sebastian Kopulande speaks out in parliament, pointing out that while condoms are widely distributed in schools and universities, many girls still lack access to basic menstrual hygiene products. This leads to school absenteeism and dropouts. He calls on the government, private sector, and organizations to work together to ensure no girl has to leave school because of a natural occurrence.

In a strong and urgent call, Member of Parliament and Patriotic Front representative Sebastian Kopalande has urged President Edgar Lungu to take firm action against the growing wave of political violence in Zambia. Kopalande warns that the country is heading toward an uncertain future if the use of firearms by political supporters is not brought to an end.

In a passionate speech, Zambian MP Sebastian Kopulande calls for African self-reliance, stating that the end of poverty in Africa lies in its ability to trade, produce, and add value to its own resources. He urges the continent to move beyond foreign aid dependency and emerge as a land of opportunity, innovation, and fair trade.

After heavy rains caused the collapse of their home, Moses Chilofia and his family — including a two-month-old baby — spent the night out in the cold. Other victims were taken in by kind neighbors despite overcrowding. In response, MP Dr. Sebastian Kopulande and the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit delivered relief materials to affected households. Kopulande thanked the government for the swift action and urged that aid be directed to those truly in need.

In February 2020, Chembe suffered severe flooding due to heavy rains. Government through DMMU brought in emergency relief but as a Member of the Lions Club, I approached Lion Sanjay Bhalid, District Governor 413 for help. On 30th May 2020, they brought relief materials valued at K200,000.00 because "Where there is a Need, there is a Lion". Provincial Minister, Nickson Chilangwa, came to Chembe to help flag off the distribution of the donations from Lions International. My very special thanks to Lions International.

KOPULANDE COMMISSIONS CHEMBE WATER PROJECT 2019

In this powerful parliamentary speech, Sebastian Kopulande supports the motion on the Auditor General's report regarding the issuance and monitoring of mining rights in Zambia. He exposes serious irregularities such as unlicensed mining, illegal exports, tax evasion, and poor oversight by the responsible ministry. Kopulande calls for stronger regulation, partnerships between foreign investors and local miners, and ensuring that the country’s mineral wealth truly benefits the Zambian people.

KOPULANDE VISIT TO CHIPETE WARD 3RD JUNE 2020

One major reason why girls in rural and poor areas of our country drop out of school early is the lack of sanitary pads and other female hygiene facilities. This has disadvantaged girls with regard to advancing in their education and contributing to the development of our country. On 2nd October 2019, I decided to confront this issue in a Private Member's Motion in Parliament urging Government to avail free sanitary pads in schools and to introduce various policy measures to address the challenge.

KOPULANDE DONATION OF PADS AND COVID MATERIALS AT CHEMBE PRIMARY SCHOOL

On 28th March 2019, I raised a Point of Order in Parliament questioning the silence by then Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe on the abolition of Value Added Tax and replacement therefor of Sales Tax as she had announced in her 2019 Budget Address made to Parliament on 28th September, 2019. The final outcome was a decision by Government to abandon the idea as announced by the new Minister of Finance, Dr. Bwalya K.E. Ng'andu in his 2020 Budget Address to the House on 27th September, 2019.
